The Hungarian men's water polo team defeated Australia 10-9 in a dramatic fight to qualify for the semi-finals of the World Championships in Quang Jiu.
Tamás Märcz is just one step away from the five-ring quota, as men in the Republic of Korea are awarded two entry rights: since the Olympic champion Serbia, which has already secured its place in Tokyo, has lost to the Spanish in the quarter-finals, certainly at next year's five-ring game.
Most recently, in 2013, the men's and women's national teams were ranked four in the World Cup in Barcelona, the former returning from the Catalan capital with a gold and the latter with a bronze medal.
The Hungarians will play the winner of the Italian-Greek duel in Thursday's semi-final - from 11:30 CET.
