In sports, a minor mistake is enough, and it can mean a serious disadvantage or negativity for the entire sports career.
Sturla Laegreid also experienced this. The Norwegian biathlete started at the World Cup and performed so-called dry training. This means that they do it not on the range, but elsewhere and without live ammunition. The Norwegian competitor also performed this exercise, but he was not thorough enough and did not check whether there was ammunition in his gun or not. Since it is a weapon capable of taking human life, its use is taken very seriously.
During this dry practice, the athlete tried shooting in the hotel and sure enough, the gun went off with the ammunition inside. It could easily have turned into a tragedy, so only the athlete was excused from competing.
He will probably be much more careful after that and of course he will regret what happened.
