The Slovenian Primoz Roglic gave up the French road cycling race, where he suffered a race accident last week.
The runner-up of the 2020 Tour de France was considered among the favorites this year as well, but the classic of Jumbo-Visma fell a week and a half ago, on the fifth stage, although he escaped the fall with a sprained shoulder and bruises. However, he already indicated on Sunday that, in order to fully recover as soon as possible, he will no longer start the 15th, 202.5 kilometer section to Caracssonne.
Roglic, not completely healthy, prioritized the interests of the team, in recent days he undertook several attacks, thus helping his teammate, the Danish Jonas Vingegaard, to take the overall lead from the defending champion Tadej Pogacar of Slovenia (UAE).
The 32-year-old Roglic can now focus on rehabilitation in order to win the Spanish Tour for the fourth time in a row after 2019, 2020 and 2021. The Vuelta a Espana starts on August 19, with the first three stages taking place in the Netherlands.
