Thirteen-time Paris champion Rafael Nadal reached the quarterfinals in the men's singles competition of the French Open.
The Spanish superstar - the fifth seed of the tournament - clashed with the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in Sunday's round of 16, and after losing the first set easily, he already led 2-1.
Auger-Aliassime, ranked ninth - whose training has been supervised by Nadal's former trainer, his uncle Toni Nadal since last year - was able to win the fourth set, but in the fifth game he lost his serve at the worst time, at 3:4, and after the break, Nadal closed the 4 hours and 23 minutes of fighting.
The Spanish player will face the world number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the quarterfinals.
