Several competitors won two victories on the last day of this year's first world championship selection for kayak canoers, on the Maty River near Szeged, and canoeists Adolf Balázs and Bragato Giada ended the three-day competition with four wins each.
The 22-year-old Olympian Adolf previously proved to be the best in the 1000 singles and - with Dániel Fejes - in the 500 doubles, and on Sunday he did not find a winner in the 500 singles and 5000 meters either. In the latter issue, he is the defending world champion.
The Olympic, world and European kayaker Bálint Kopasz closed the selection with two victories, after Friday's one-kilometer final, he also beat Ádám Varga, the silver medalist behind him in the longer distance in Tokyo, in the 500 on Sunday, who later took third place in the 5000 also behind the defending World Cup champion Noé Bálint, who is preparing for the World Games, and Csanád Sellyei.
On the women's side, Anna Lucz and Emese Kőhalmi also doubled on the last day of competition, the former in the 200 singles and doubles (with Kiss Blanka), and the latter in the 5,000 meters, in which she won the World Cup last year, and in the 1,000 doubles (with Eszter Rendessy). Like Adolf, Bragato Giada, also a canoeist, won four victories at the national team: in the previous days, he won first in the C-1 1000 meters, as well as in the C-2 200 and 500 meters, and finally he also won in the C-1 500.
The second and final selection will take place in a month. This year's World Cup will be held in Halifax, Canada between August 3 and 7, and the continental competition will take place as part of the Munich Multisport European Championship from August 18 to 21.
