Federer: In my age, people think about something special

"In my age, people are wondering if they can do something special. If this were to succeed in Melbourne, it would be wonderful," said the 37-year-old Swiss star, preparing for the 22nd season.

Federer won this year and last year at the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, the Australian Open Championship, his 20th GS triumph.

"It's hard to play quality tennis every year, and luck is often needed. I hope, however, to start the year as well as the last two times," the third tennis player currently said.

He added that his preparations were well done, that he had intensive training in the last three or four weeks, and was looking forward to the new season, in which his first victory in the tournament would be the hundredth triumph of his career.

The Swiss player will take part in the Hopman Cup, which runs from Saturday to Saturday, on Saturday, January 14th, at the Australian Open, an unofficial mixed team world championship for tennis players to be matched by Belinda Bencic in the defending Swiss team.

Most men with Grand Slam tournament victory over men on New Year's Day in Perth at a mixed match will have the second Serena Williams with 23 individual GS titles on the women's leaderboard, who will also participate as Frances Tiafoe's partner.
