The Ecuadorian national team beat the host Qatari team 2-0 at the XXII. in the opening match of the World Cup on Sunday.
The first winter World Cup match in the history of football began with the superiority of the South American team, but after the Asian champion's goalkeeper's early uncertainty, Ecuador's first goal was invalidated due to an offside. On the other hand, the second goal was scored by Valencia, who scored all three of his team's goals in the 2014 World Cup, and in addition to his last goal - the best of this match - he scored a penalty in the first half. The part of the game was characterized by Ecuadorian superiority, the Qataris, who were playing their first World Cup meeting in their history, only got into the opponent's half for short periods, and they could not really create a threat.
After the turn, the game took place at a slower pace, and even then the will of the Ecuadorians prevailed, but there were no major chances in front of either goal, so thanks to their confident performance in the first half, Ecuador was enriched with three points.
