Following an incident reported last Thursday, three more corona virus-infected people were found on Olympique Marseille’s football team, jeopardizing the start of the French league’s weekend.
The port city club reported three positive results on Tuesday and it is still uncertain whether the team will be able to play its first-round match against Saint-Étienne on Friday.
According to a report by the French news agency AFP, the league’s rules state that if more than three of a team’s players or professional team members produce a positive test, the team cannot hold training for seven days.
Marseille played a friendly preparation match with the VfB Stuttgart on Friday, and the club reported the three suspected cases on Sunday, adding that further investigations are needed to confirm the infection.
