Until August 31 without spectators. events attracting large crowds are taking place in Germany, and this provision also affects the Bundesliga. However, the president of the German federation would soon resume the championship, albeit behind strictly closed gates.
The need for closed goalie matches was emphasized by Fritz Keller, president of the German Football Association (DFB), who at the same time understands the views of the fans.
Keller wrote in Kicker magazine as a guest author about knowing full well how much the printers would like to see their team again. The ban on events attracting significant crowds, such as sports matches, was extended in Germany until 31 August. Continuation, however, is also extremely important for most clubs to avoid bankruptcy due to television royalties.
“We are aware that fans are giving the heart of football,” the president said.
He added that in recent days they have consulted with a number of fan groups and organizations that are vehemently opposed to the tournament continuing without spectators.
The Bundesliga is paused for the time being until April 30, Keller has indicated they will soon decide how to proceed with the involvement of 36 professional teams. He added that they want to make quick and unbureaucratic provisions to help associations in trouble.
