The European Football Association (UEFA) is confident that Real Madrid’s away rematch against Manchester City will take place at the scheduled time in the eighth final of the Champions League, despite the fact that one of the Madrid players has tested positive for the corona virus.
Real announced on Tuesday that the virus had been detected at Mariano Díaz on Monday, but added the striker was completely asymptomatic and was placed under house quarantine.
The Madrid band will be knocked out 2-1 at the end of February in a home environment in the first match of the BL-Eighth Final duel and will play on Saturday at Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
"UEFA is in constant contact with the club and will monitor the relevant decisions of the Spanish authorities," the European association wrote in a statement to the British media, stressing that it hoped the match would not be affected by the incident.
In Spain, thousands of new cases of coronavirus have been registered every day in recent weeks, and the number of infected people is already more than 298,000.
Due to the coronavirus epidemic, it has long been questionable where the four rematches that have not yet been played will be held in the BL eighth final. In the end, it was decided that career electorates would be able to compete in their own stadium, but at the same time, due to English regulations, those coming from Spain would be quarantined. According to news in the English press on Monday, the government is helping with a concession so members of the Spanish band do not have to quarantine before they take off in Manchester.
