The captain of the French Football Association (FFF) says federal captain Didier Deschamps will remain in his post, whose team was eliminated in a penalty shootout in the eighth final of the European Championships in Bucharest on Monday after playing 3-3.
"I spoke to him briefly on Tuesday night and my impression is that he will not give up. We stayed, let a week to settle things down, and then we meet and discuss the situation," Noël Le Graët told Europe radio station
The head of the FFF pointed out that an important decision should never be made in the heat of the moment and promised a detailed report on the 2018 World Championship team’s European Championship performance.
"We also analyze the matches, Didier's popularity scores and his relationship with the players. Of course, it's also important that he has the mood and motivation to continue," he added.
As a player, 103-time national team and world and European champion Deschamps has been working as a federal captain since 2012 and his contract runs until the end of the 2022 Qatari World Cup.
