Back in Manchester City, CAS is seeking redress
CAS said Wednesday that the club had provided the appeal documents by Monday's deadline. The statement added: For the time being, they cannot say when the final decision on the matter is expected.
A week and a half ago, UEFA denounced the English club for allegedly violating the organization's financial fair play rule. According to the ruling, the eighth-legged English club in the Champions League will not qualify for the UEFA Series in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, which received a penalty of EUR 30 million.
UEFA has launched an investigation into Manchester City following the leaks of Football Leaks. Internal correspondence and club documents published by the website revealed that the Arab-owned association was being illegally funded and had been deceiving UEFA for years.
UEFA said the irregularities occurred between 2012 and 2016 and the club, which denied the allegations made against it, did not cooperate in the investigation. The financial fair play is based on the fact that an association cannot spend more than its income.
The Premier League defending team is currently ranked second in the English Championship in the BL.
