Jerry Colangelo, head of the Hall of Fame governing body, told ESPN on Wednesday that a decision was made to postpone the effects of the coronavirus epidemic, and that the ceremony is likely to be held in the first quarter of next year.
The list of this year’s elect was announced in early April, and as expected, 2020 has become one of the strongest “classes” of all time. Three superstars, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett, were also included. They could get into the Hall of Fame at the earliest now, as at least five years must elapse between their retirement and their admission.
However, Bryant, a five-time NBA champion of the Los Angles Lakers, a two-time Olympic gold medal legend, could no longer live up to this honor as he died in a helicopter crash at the end of January.
