Eli Manning announced his retirement. The New York Giants manager has won two championship titles, but has been unable to lead his team for a while.
The 39-year-old has been in the Professional League (NFL) for 16 seasons, all the way to the Giants, leading to the final triumphs of the 2007 and 2011 seasons.
Manning was selected as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in both Super Bowls. Beside him, there are only four American footballers in league history who can claim at least two Super Bowl-MVP titles. Even his brother, twice champion Peyton Manning, has failed to do so.
The Ole Miss University athlete in the NFL in 2004 was seventh in the league in passes (4,895), passes (57,023 yards) and touchdowns (366).
