The ice was broken, the owner injected his waist due to tremendous pressure and changed the name of the Washington NFL team, the Redskins. The owner has long been pressured to change a name that is offensive to Native Americans, but has so far refused to do so.
The official announcement has yet to be made, but according to the US sports press, the name change will take place in a few days - when the registration procedure is completed.
The association, founded in 1932, is forced to choose a new name because of a series of demonstrations in the United States, as the name Redskins is considered offensive to many Indigenous Indians. The capital club has been attacked for this for many years, but so far no change has taken place. The protest series then signaled in early July that major sponsors, such as FedEx, which acquired the right to use its stadium's name for $ 205 million in 1999, could sever their relationship with the association.
