Casper Ruud reached the men's singles semifinals at the French Open in fourth place.
The eighth-ranked 23-year-old player, who saw off 19-year-old Dane Holger Rune on Wednesday night, is the first Norwegian to reach the top four at a Grand Slam tournament. Prior to this, Ruud had not progressed beyond the round of 16 in a GS tournament.
His opponent in the semi-finals will be Marin Cilic, seeded in twentieth place, the Croatian champion of the US Open 2014, whom he has defeated in their previous two meetings. On the other side, the German Alexander Zverev (3rd seed) and the Spanish Rafael Nadal (5th seed) will clash for the final.
